Week 3 Weigh In - A Low for the Year

I haven't posted about my latest excursion into weight loss because honestly I've been going back and forth all year and haven't had much success. I wanted to make sure I could really get serious this time before I got to excited and started talking about it.

As of this morning, after my 3rd full week of dieting and my first real week of exercising regularly I'm down 8.6 pounds. I'm working on a higher protein and lower carb mix and it is going well.
That's the great news. The bad is that I had one bad day Saturday and I didn't think it was really so bad, just way to much sodium maybe. Anyway I gained 1.4 that day and I've worked the rest of the week to get it off. It dropped slowly but I am back to my low for the year, which I was also at last Thursday. Now that I'm back there I'm excited to hit the 10 pound loss goal and even more excited to get under 220.

I still have a ways to go, and have no illusions of completing the lose 30 pounds in my 30th year at this point, but I am on the right track and my ultimate goal weight is 185. 47 pounds from where I started at 232, and 38.5 more pounds to go but my goals are at the 5 pound milestones so next up is below 220.

This week I did 3 bike rides totaling about 30 miles and 1 intense short circuit workout that killed my legs. It was only 10 minutes but ended up being about 85 squats and 35 burpees in those ten minutes.

And because I don't like to leave any post without a picture anymore I'll share a few photos from the golf course this week. The fall colors are beautiful right now.

Random Thoughts Tuesday

Why does my laptop have so many finger prints on the screen? Am I so used to the iPad and iPhone that I reach out and touch things expecting it to work?

Why do people put hats in the back window of their car? For one it's going to fade and look like crap. Another thing is a sticker is just as effective and much cheaper.

I've realized that although I like the Falcons (I'm an Atlanta sports fan) I don't really care about the NFL after I set my fantasy football lineups. I want to get out side and do whatever. Golf, Cycle, Run, Walk the Dog, it really doesn't matter but this weather is perfect right now. I'll turn on the Sunday Night NFL game and unwind from whatever fun I can have on Sunday.

It's impressive how quickly major coffee brands jumped on the K-cup bandwagon. In a day and time where if you don't innovate you die, they didn't hold back trying to fight the at home coffee revolution. Smart.

Funny. Dunkin Doughnuts has been advertising their new pay from your phone app like it's revolutionary technology. Starbucks has had that for at least 2 years. Useful for DD to have, waste of marketing dollars to promote it.

Apple Earpod vs Yurbuds

At apples recent iPhone 5 launch one of their new innovations was their earpods.

They are peppering TV with adds about how weird ears are and how the earpod headphones are so much better than their old ones.

I will not dispute the fact that ears are weird. I will also not dispute the fact that these earpodsare better than the previous apple headphones.

I do want to tell you about the most amazing headphones that you can buy.

They also fit in your ear, but they have a silicon adapter that fits into your ear canal. It does a few things, one it allows the music to be listened to at a much lower volume and you still hear it great. The other it they simply STAY in your ear.

Here is a LINK to 2 reviews posted on daily mile and I concur with both.

Yurbuds have some newer products I'm dying to get my hands on.

The inspire duo has a cloth type wire they claim wont get tangled and twisted like traditional ones. Awesome stuff if its true.

The second is their inspiring pro, which has a 3 button mic. I need to get this for driving and using the phone. Both products look amazing and are on my TO PURCHASE LIST.

Checkout the Yurbud WEBSITE

In my mind there is not even a contest. Yurbuds beats the earpods hands down.
Yurbuds get 5 out of 5 Stars from this review.

Fall Moments

5 more minutes. I think I can. I think I can.

In all seriousness I really like writing this blog it just seems like there is so much that goes on that when I try to cram it all in the posts are so long I don't even want to read them.

Right now, at this point in my life things are pretty darn awesome.
I've made some changes to the photography business (will probably get it's own post), after this semester I only have 3 more until I'm done with my MBA, Tara only has 3 more semesters (plus a summer) to finish her masters, I feel like I have a solid plan towards the future, and more.

I just feel great about life.

It's times like these when you are able to get small moments of clarity and let them sink in.

There will be more obstacles to overcome and things to do, places to go, time constraints, etc. Right now, I am going to smile and have fun.

I hope everyone has a happy Friday!

I took this picture 2 years ago but drove by the exact spot 2 days ago and it looks just the same.

The leaves have changed in the past week and we need to enjoy them because in a few fleeting weeks, they'll be gone.

5 Good Minutes

A friend gave me a great idea yesterday. He was having trouble finding the time to blog so he just started a stopwatch. He went for ten minutes, I'm doing five. Hey you've gotta start somewhere.

Something new that I've been doing is more sports photography. I'm having a blast capturing high school football and my dad's been doing it with me.

I started because one of Tara's friends asked if I could take some pictures of her son. I said I'd try so I did some research and some reading. Watched a few training videos on www.KelbyTraining.com (great resource for photographers) and off we went to a JV game to practice.

Getting shots of a certain player is a lot harder than tracking the action and shooting what happens if it's close enough to you. We've been to Southeast Guilford two weeks ago, and most recently to West Forsyth.

This week I may head up to Pilot Mountain for the East Surry game, b/c it's "home" so to speak and I get to do dinner with mom and dad before hand. If it's Greensboro or Winston it's just me and pops.

Thinking about getting the East vs. Mt. Airy game the following weekend. That could be fun.

The best part about this is I know a guy who got me in touch with the right person to get media passes from the NCHSAA so we have a free pass to every high school athletic event and the sideline access that comes with it. Great place to watch a game from.

Hopefully some of this will turn into getting a crack at either a college football game or a panthers game down the road.

Well that's my five good minutes for today. Let me find a few pictures to throw in b/c what fun is a post with no pictures.
