It has been over a month since I posted. Sometimes things just get busy, or I get a bloggers block or something and next thing I know its been weeks since a post.
I'll try to do a few catching up posts, but for now here's a quick recap.
Is keeping me busy, and I'm trying to really decide what direction I want to take with the degree.
For those that don't know I'm looking for a new position with more growth opportunity.
I've had a few phone interviews, made it to the final 7 for one job but didn't get into the final 3. I was told I interviewed exceptionally well just didn't have the experience a few of the candidates had that they were looking for. After accepting an interview recently, I turned it down later due to a lack of trust in the interviewer and organization. I was told I would be emailed a document, to give me an idea of what to prepare for this not quite traditional interview, by the end of the day. It came over 2 days later. It wasn't a job that I was sure I'd want but I thought interviewing would be more good experience but I am not going forward with someone I don't trust.
We shot our first wedding of the year and loved it. Being a wedding photography team with my mom and dad is so much fun and is something we really enjoy. I have a mentoring session coming up soon with some photographers I really respect and I hope they can help me finalize a business plan that I'll commit too.
There have been discussion on changing our brand back to Derek Hill Photography from Ardeur Photography, and that will be settled by the weekend.
I entered some prints into the PPA of NC photo competition and was pleased with all I learned. While none of them merited, they were above average and I learned so many things that go into making a competition print. I hope to submit a few images with a little work to the regional competition and roll the dice there!
Busy but good. It seems like several of our friends are getting pregnant and about to add another life to the world and that's awesome. For those of you keeping score at home we are a good 3-5 years away from that.
Tara's busy with grad school as well. Sometimes she's busier, sometimes I am, and occasionally we get some time lined up when we're both caught up and can hang out a little more.
So far, I have not done good with that. I'm only down a total of 1 pound for the year. It's time to buckle down and get it done.
I think I'll go ahead and write tomorrow's post about how glad I am that it's March!
